Create!

A star exploded deep within you years ago
and still the light has not yet reached your eyes,
not yet turned the night to day for birds to leave their nests
or monks their caves to play.
Jango Dew-Drop

Blind to your own infusion, you insist there is nothing to see,
nothing to celebrate your reasonless being for,
and yet you feel it, you quake,
you quiver to begin.
An unseen trembling turns your head,
the way you stand, the wind,
the ground beneath your feet.
You think the shock of this bodily remembrance is fear
and do not sing,
do not burst into song,
do not wring the beauty of the sound
long buried in your bones.
You stop and throw a stone,
half hoping it will come back to you,
and wait…
as if there was time,
wait…
like a beggar ashamed to ask for a bowl to beg with.

Japanese Orange Mandala

How can this be?
The sky is bluer than the eyes of your own mother
on the day she first beheld you
and still you cast your gaze down.
Don’t you remember?
You were made in the image of God!
The creator!
The one who creates
river, eagle, ladybug, leaf.
If anyone else gave you the moon you’d call him a thief
or worse, refuse to look.
Give up the notion of stealing from God.
The only crime here is to hoard.
Prometheus?
Only bored of chilly nights
with no flame to write his poetry by.

Can I Look In Your Eyes

?

hey, can i look in your eyes
and see who’s inside
hey, can swim in your lake
and dissolve – in the changin’ tides

hey can you see into me
you just might see through
hey can you look in my eyes
and see a picture of you ?

hey can you look into me
tell me what will you find
hey can you look into me
see some peace of mind

hey can you look into me
is there a treasure inside
hey can you see into me
go on a magic carpet ride

hey can i look in your eyes
what would i see
hey can i look in your eyes
will i find a piece of me

hey can i look in your eyes
will you look into mine
will you see the moon on the rise
will you see the sunshine

hey will you look in my eyes
let me look into yours
hey can i look in your eyes
and reach the other shore

can i look in your eyes
will you see the moon on the rise
will you see the sunshine

Can i look in your eyes
one more time
one more time

(from a song I composed 2 nights ago)

They say Inner Peace is free of charge …

There are some things in life I learned on my own.

thumb6.jpgMost have to do with organic bodily processes. The reptilian brain responses to external stimuli. “Built-in” stuff. Innate stuff. Fear, hunger, survival programs. Turning grunts and groans into meaningful – or in some cases, meaningless – dialogue.

With regard to growth, maturity, propelling ones self ahead in life, communication, livelihood, relationships, ownership… all this had to be learned. The learning process was as prone to fault as the marriage between teacher and student. Many questionable teachers, often a reluctant student. Many trials and tests. Many cyclical loops of learning new ways to break things, versus old ways to fix things. And the School of Life goes on.

Yet another adventure, with a free pass to enter

dandy-and-rain-033-copy.jpg
An Adventure

There is an adventure, greater than any other, which takes no plane, no ship, and requires no ticket to enter.

There is a place, my friends, to fly with no wings, to rest without sleeping and to journey without walking. Having only one requirement, which is to enjoy, I ask you, “Do you remember having the heart of a child?”

Do you remember the delight of a swing as we strove to pump ourselves higher and higher, jumping through the air and laughing with glee to fly weightless and free for only one brief second?

This Is A Test.

This is a test, 1-2-3-4.

How many times have you heard that?? You’re at a conference or a performance; there’s the guy has his mike, testing 1234. You think, this is not a performance, this is not a star, this is just “Testing 1234”. This Is A Test

Yet the sound hits your ears, and it hits 300 other peoples’ ears and it sinks in. And they know him, that man with the pliers, with the unshaven beard. That man that doesn’t believe in his own voice. That man that has peanut butter in his lunch kit.

Testing 1234. He has just made his first hit. He has performed as a lead-in for the Stones, he has influenced the neurons of two hundred board directors who shape the corporate planet. He has revealed himself and all his hidden virtues to people who clean chairs and people who sit in Rolls Royces.

But, this is just a test. Testing 1234. This is just a test. And he thinks he is nothing and he knows he is nothing because his world of duct tape and electrical joiners is not on the scale of broadcast news. His wife has a better job. And yet he has spoken; all have heard. He has left his dynamic footprint, as all dinosaurs do, as the coming and going of leaves on millionaires’ trees.

Give Everything You Have

gifters.gifGive everything you have,
and after you have given,
give what’s left.
After you give what’s left,
give what remains.
After giving that,
give the feeling of having given.
After giving the feeling
of having given,
give what you get
for having given.
Then give again,
never stopping, always giving.
And should it come to pass that you forget,
forgive yourself immediately.
Then begin again,
giving everything you have,
and after you have given,
give what’s left.
